Safe Cylinder Storage Ltd was formed in 2007 with the aim of reducing the problems associated with the storage of medical gas cylinders.
During a brief stay in a local hospital it was evident from conversations with the nurses and other staff that the medical oxygen cylinders on the ward were a potential hazard as they did not feel that they had the necessary equipment to store them safely. The larger cylinders are very heavy and could cause severe injury if they were to fall on a member of staff or a patient.
We have designed a range of high quality cylinder containers, cylinder restraints and medical cylinder holders that we believe help reduce the risks involved.
They are designed to accommodate the most widely used medical cylinder sizes, those used on the wards, treatment rooms and in theatre areas.
We now supply some of the largest NHS Trusts with their cylinder storage requirements and we also supply many vets, dentists, ambulance stations and British Red Cross branches.
The containers are made of 1.5mm steel and powder coated for a superior, corrosion-resistant finish. They are fitted with protective trim to reduce noise and “wear and tear” and all have a 3mm thick rubber mat in the base which can be removed for ease of cleaning. Furthermore, all containers have fixing points enabling them to be attached to a wall if required. Many of our storage holders can also be fitted with braked castors, making them much easier to relocate and to move during ward cleaning. We also supply wall-mounted cylinder holders for the CD size cylinders for wards where keeping the cylinders on the floor is not practical.
We supply storage solutions for all sizes of medical cylinders though our standard cylinder containers are used to store the smaller cylinders with a diameter of up to 104mm (D, CD and E size). Our range includes containers to hold 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 small cylinders.
Our containers can reduce the problems associated with medical gas storage as they provide a fixed, focal point for staff when cylinders are required for use, as well as a neat solution to the hazards that free-standing cylinders can create for both users and passers-by.
For the larger, heavier cylinders we supply a range of cylinder restraints for the most common sizes F/HX (140mm), G (180mm) and J/L (230mm). They have fixing holes to attach to a wall and are made from 3mm steel with a protective trim and chains fitted to prevent cylinders from falling.
For the larger cylinder we also have cylinder stalls for up to 15 cylinders and lockable cylinder cages for up to 20 cylinders. They have fixing holes and can be used outside or alternatively be placed inside a hospital medical gas store.
